it sticks out about 2inches farther then my barrel is long

Yes, It does fold up parallel to the barrel. I wouldn't advise shooting with the shooting stick in the folded up position, especially if you have a shorter barrel. It will stick out in front of the muzzle approx. 6"-2". Hope this helps!

I doubt that it would work, but you could always try it and see, and if it doesn't send it back, but I would assume that you need to use those shooting sticks or something where all you have to do is just set your gun on it and not fasten it to anything
