I have never used one for this, but having handled them before I would think they would be great. They have a very soft tip which would be great for casting livers without ripping them off of the hook and still have enough backbone to handle a good sized fish.A:
The soft tip and bend of the rods are great for soft bait. the hard the rods the more bait you'll lose on the cast. if like to use soft bait take to soft and flexability of the rod the better it be.Answers

Honestly the max i would go on this rod (in the 10 and 11' range) would be no more than 8 ounces(including the bait).A:
Not sure about 8 oz but I have used 6oz and it handles that fine. And yes braided line works just fine. I use it on all of my catmaxx rods and so do everyone else I know that has them.A:
The answer is yes, I use 8 oz of lead, and can make 60 to 70 yard cast with no problem.

I have 2 10ft rods that I purchased in April 2011 and both have had issues with bending guides and broken ceramic guide insertsA:
I dont know about that...but I know a tip to fix new or older rod with guide insert problems(w/reg crazyglue)( no gel)starting with the problem always looking from the tip towards the reel base.Snap insert back on properly believe it or not there is a foward and back bevel difference on that ring(that why I do it when rods are new)Once snapped in,again your looking from the tip end of rod ..down. Apply a drop or 2 to the seam where ring and guide sit at the base part of the guide....and on a CASTING ROD ON THE HOOP SIDE.Images for this Answer

No glow tips.. Yes, they'll handle carp just fine..(Hooked into several 30 pounders while fishing for blues..). Strongs rods, just don't like the guides though(i.e eyes) They're flimsy..A:
These rods will have no problem handling big carp. I fish for carp sometimes and have brought several 20 to 25 pounders in with ease.A:
