A: 
On a hard surface, good asphalt or concrete, place the device under the axle and near the wheel you're going to remove. Slowly pull forward and, in theory, the device will rotate and lift the trailer. In actual practice, mine snapped in half on the first attempt. Buy a decent floor jack!

You place the jack under the axle then back up. The jack rotates and lifts the trailer up.
