I've fished it with a weighted hook, with a sliding sinker ahead of the hook and on a jig head...they all work

If i need to go deeper i usually use a small sinker about a foot above the bait and rig it wacky style.

A:
actually i use a good size swivel i forget the size but it lets it sink at a slower speed then a lead weight on it. If i'm fishing deeper water like around 15-20 ft i put a split shot on the line for a faster sink speed.

What color?

Details:
I fish in golf course lakes and ponds. I heard that these are great freshwater soft plastic baits. In the ponds I fish in there are bass and bluegill. Which color would be great for either one of them?

Pretty much all of them would work but if I were you I would choose either #4, #10, or #99. Those colors represent your ponds natural forage.

I usually am using a 3/0 hook...you can go up or down one size without issue...it's not rocket science, after all.

I would use a Gamagatzu 4 or 5 with this shad, if you use anything smaller, you will not get the hook sets you need.

I use a 5/0. you can experiment with longer shanked hooks too, they help when the fish are hitting short.
