Verno,
Depends on your use. Calm waters in Alabama don't require high thrust. If your using it for lake use of slow rivers a 55lb-12v would be fine. If your primary use is rivers with med to high current or large lakes with wind you might want to consider a 70 or 80 lb-24v thrust motor.
