go for it! its a perfect yak or light boat rod!

abu ambassador 5500/6500 (regular retrieve/high speed) if you are willing to rinse daily or Revo if you want to spend more for bigger drag (maby good in carib) and more capacity (also maby good, though 6500 holds 300 yds of 30# braid)

Best kayak rod I have found in 10+ years looking.

It fits cross-wise in my 30" suitcase. It won't fit in my wheeled carry-on. Could probably just carry the tube on by itself. Other people have.

No, it won't. Don't understand the other answer? I own 2 of these rods, and travel a lot. LOL

Great rod. Great feel for a baitcasting travel rod.....Unfortunately,.. it measures 32" in the case & 30" without the case..... Most carry on luggage maxes at 22x14x11 The longest thing you put in it would be a little over 28&1/4 inches....

Just to make sure,... tried to put the rod (in the case) in 3 different, max legal limit carry on's,... wouldn't fit in any of them.

If you can smuggle on a 25" suitcase, the rod (without the case) should just fit.... (don't have a 25" to try it) but it would have to go diagonally across the suitcase and from the bottom to the top. Everything else would have to be packed around it...
