I use a Penn Conquer 4000 and it works extremely smooth. If you choose you can cast 50,60 feet or more with ease, with a 5:1 retrival rate. I purchased both from "PRO BASS".

A:
The Tidemaster is one of the best rods I have used. I fish up to 8 of these on my boat on any given day, and there is no rod with the backbone and sensitivity of these St Croix rods.

A:
I have owned the calcutta and it snapped after a few months of fishing in the gulf...never had a problem with st. croix..its seems to have more grunt to it. This has pulled in a 4 foot black tip with a penn conquer with 20# powerpro, the guides are in perfect condition and the braid has never even maked the guides. this was the best 170$ i ever spent on a rod! i highly reccomend you get it...best wishes and tight lines !

A:
Tidemaster rods have SCII graphite blanks which St. Croix ranks as mid-modulus. This
material produces rods that are highly sensitive, lightweight and durable. Tidemasters are outfitted with Baston Forecast hard aluminum guides with 316 stainless steel frames, Fuji DPS reel seat and premium-grade cork handle.
