A: 
The difference between the rods are: the rod for the 113 combo is rated for 20-50 LB test line and the rod for the 114 combo if it is the SL3060 then the line rating is 30-60 LB test. There is also a SL3080 for the 114 and this rod has a line rating of 30-80LB test.

I have that combo and the Penn 330GT2 paired with the Uglystick 30 60lb. I use them both equally. The Slammer combo seems to be more sensitive but still very strong. It has the BPS 40lb line. I caught a 350 lb sturgeon in Feb 2010 on the slammer combo. Great gear.

the more expensive one or the one with the 114 on it is a thinker rod made for bigger fish useing around 80 to 100 pound test line

YES, with braid coming out in force for the last few years I use 150 yards 0f 50lb test ANDE line for backing and 300 yards of 80LB test Power Pro braid for my top shot. If you are trolling these rods with this set-up use 25-30 ft of wind on leader. Size poundage of the leader depends on what you are fishing for. Here in the Northeast if you are trolling for stripers use 50-80 pound test leader since you will undoubtably trollind an umbrella rig. Glad to be of assistance

you can put heaver line but 50 or better the fish can see deff in clear water situations. the bigger the line the less u can put on ( for mono) if u get braid u can put a lot on cuz its smaller. U can put a bigger # of braid but it might surpass the rods capability, plus some braid will cut the level winds and the guides..i use a 113H/6'6" slammer 30-50lbs rod and i use 50# suffix with 50# seaguar leader good set up for this rod..hope this helps
