I use a size 8 for Salmon and Steelhead up here in VT, so I'd imagine you should go with a 4 or 6 depending on how big the fish are you're targeting. 4 would probably be your safest bet.

A:
Well they are, but the majority of carp are lazy and die soon after being caught. They are also notoriously hard to remove hooks from as their mouths are almost like bubble gum. What that means is there isn't a reason to waste these hooks on carp when a 1/0 aberdeen Eagle Claw is cheaper and more disposable. The picture below is a carp I caught on a #2 Eagle Claw.

A:
Yes. These hooks are great for carp. Over this past summer I fished for carp as I do every year on the Erie Canal in NY.

I used a #2 a caught3 fish all over 8 lbs. The biggest almost 16 lbs. The biggest hook did bend/straighten out on the bigger fish so I would recommend a #1 of any fish over 10-12 lbs if you think the fish can get it in his mouth.

Also these are so great because they are designed in my opinion for a minimal hook set that the fish will pick up the bait and move on as they hook themselves.

Hope they work for you!

They run smaller than most hooks. If you normally fish a size 6 baitholder hook, get the 4's to match size wise.

bass pro has a size chart. the hooks from most manufactures are standard. I use the Gamakatsu octopus in 2/0 in black. I use these for inshore fishing for reds and salt water trout.
