A:
These other guys are wrong these are for actual snagging where you cast out, let it sit and when a sucker fish comes by due to the design, the hook stays upright, you jerk it as hard as you can and you "snag" the fish not in the mouth but anywhere on its body. Be aware this is illegal in some states and others only on certain fish.

Well duh they are for Suckers of course.
Hey sorry couldn't resist.

Researched this and decided it is used as a Hook that Rides ON your Live bait Fish.
So, your Bait is a Fish that is NOT meant to be dead or die. You rig him up so it stays on your line and this Hook (Sucker Hook) is a Trap like Hook that releases from the bait to catch the Target Fish.
I Could be off a bit.

The guage of the wire is pretty thick. If you want a lighter wire hook don't get the magna's. Get the regular ones. As far as length, the sizes are consistent with all other hook sizes 1/0,2/0 etc.
