It has a built in wire varmit guard. You have to purchase the adapter separtely though

feeder motor

my feeder when full of corn motor will not rotate untill you manually spin it first then it goes........

Check the charge of batt. or spray teflon/ w/d 40 on spinner shaft.

It seems to be that the motor is not strongh enough for all the tension that a full load puts on it. Mine did this all the time as well until the whole motor assembly broke off. They have a new motor and assembly that works better. I am not sure of the name but it is rectangular shape.
