I found this bait works best when fished from shore. The method I use is as follows: Using a maximum of 8lb mono on your reel, thread the line though a 1/2oz lead egg sinker and tie the end to a double ended brass barrel swivel. The the other end of the swivel, tie a 12 to 15 inch leader of 2 to 6lb mono, then put a gold treble hook on the end (I use size 14, 16, or 18 depending on the trout size). The bait will float off the bottom, keeping it out of the weeds, and the fish will feel little resistance when it takes the bait. I like putting the rod in a rod holder, letting some slack off the line so the fish doesn't feel anything behind the bait, and sometimes put a small red & white bobber hanging from the line betwen the 1st and 2nd eyes from the reel on the rod, that way it rises as the line gets taught (fish bites the bait), then it's HOOKUP!!. Happy fishing!! Dave
