Luhr Jensen's Jet Divers are some of the hottest diver systems on the Great Lakes for precision depth control down to 40'. The Jet Divers' buoyant body floats at rest, then takes your lure to a predetermined depth once you begin your troll. Jet Divers enable the presentation of lures and baits tight to the bottom where most fish are found, without getting hung-up in this difficult environment. Each size is calibrated to run at a certain level; planes back toward the surface after the strike to aid in fish landing. Floats up when the boat slows, preventing tangles. Great for slow presentation of walleye baits and running multiple rods.
I guess what I'm asking is does it come with a trolling guide to let you know how deep it will dive based on how much line you let out up to its max depth? And how far do you troll it back to get it to the max?
No it does not come with a trolling guide but 100 feet of line equals full depth of the diver. 50 feet half the depth. I use 3 mph to troll and slower any faster increases the pull from the diver and caused it to drift in different directions.
First go to Luhr Jensens website there are 2 PDF on how to use this product. What I do is, I use about a 4 foot leader of the back of the Jet Diver and use mostly a Pet Spoon from Luhr Jensen (size #13) an troll about 3 mph. It takes about 100 feet to reach full depth at that speed and 50 feet to reach half the depth listed. I have used the 2 lure method shown in the PDF but it takes effort to keep it from tangling fun when you catch doubles. Using too large of a lure will cause ti to surface all the time. spoons have worked best for me. Hope this helps.
one side goes to the rod line and your lure goes on the opposite side I believe it is marked on the diver . I use about a 6 to 8 ft leader to the lure itself and I use florcarbon line
