Anytime is really good. The question is speed. Depending on the time of day, time of year, and water clarity. For baits like this, I recommend trying various cadences. Sometimes a turn and burn version is great, other times, a reel/reel/pause (varying times on pause) will work. As for where, well, anywhere that bass is lurking. Main thing I hone in on in the spring is when shad hit the top of the water. When they are doing that, there is a predator below. Throw it beyond that spot and bring it over them. I've caught countless bass with this technique. Hope this helps.

Fish it towards dusk and into the night. Summer is the best along the shore line.

A:
Yes. They all seem to have these holes. Actually if you look closely, you will see that it is fille with a metalic substance. Its probably where the tiny metal rod is inservted while on the factory machine getting paitned and rotated. Don't worry, its not a defect.

Does it still have the ring to tie your line onto? Sounds like that is missing. Either way, this bait is made to float, and sound like it is a defect.

Some come this way and some don't. It's not a defect and water doesn't come in from it.
If it really bothers you then put a small drop of super glue to cover up the hole.

Tip, add a feathered treble to the back and work it erratically, and vary they cadence with pauses. BOOM! BASS!

Sometimes bass are in just watch mode. If you are getting it everytime in the same place on different days then you nered to look closer around to see what the bass' food source is there. It may just be that they have plentiful baitfish swiiming around (switch to spinner or swim bait) or perhaps its a heavily fished area and they have all seen topwater a thousand times. Try switching to a Yamamato senko worm or a flashy jerkbait, Whateever the case, I have fished many ponds and lakes where bass just aren't topwater feeders in those locations- It can be very frustrating try to figure it out though. Good luck.

Some fish are just timid like that and just want to check it out. Thats just how it is, unfortunately. The best thing you can do in a situation like that is give the bait small twitches (so you're not scaring them) and be extremely patient, work it very slowly.

It's not that easy of a question but most of the time, varying your pause retrieve and speed will help. It may not be slower but faster. Let the other fish that strike tell you. Pay attention to how your cadence is. If it's a specific speed, try duplicating that speed. Maybe it's the time between pauses. Bass can't stand when a lure stops for longer than 10 seconds. As soon as you move the lure again, you get the strike. Situations calls for different things. It could also be the lure color. Sometimes, the bass wants it but the color isn't what it likes. A simply change of lure color & you may get strikes from everywhere. Bass can be fickle sometimes. The lure itself just may not be right. Change the lure too. Keep trying until you get that strike, then follow up with that with similar colors etc...
Hope this helps.

Either fish i slower, or us a stop and go what works for me is doing 2 or 3 sweeps pausing for 3 or 4 seconds, and doing 2 or 3 more.
