There are plastic baits, and then there are Zoom® baits. The difference is undeniable. Want proof? Just take a peek inside your favorite tournament angler's tackle box, and start counting the Zoom bags. For those who lay it on the line every time out, there can be no other choice. Every Zoom soft plastic bait is wholly realistic, super-soft to the touch (for the extra action needed to pull in that reluctant money fish) and salt-impregnated to hold even the most tentative bite.

A:
I use Offset shank worm hooks. Gamakatsu but other brands work well also. Match the size hook with the size lizard. 1/0 for 4 or 5 inch lizards. Larger hooks for larger lizards.

To what hooks work the best that all depends on the size of your lure, you want the hook to go from the tip to about middle of the lures body. The hook I would use is a Bass Pro Shops® XPS® Magna Superlock Hooks. Very strong hooks.

for these smaller 4" lizards, I would use a 1/0 extra-wide gap hook. Any brand will work, Gamakatsu, Mustad, Eagle Claw, etc.

If you wanna know what colors you use it all depends on the day. If its a nice sunny bright day I would recommend using a bright color like neon green (They do have it) or on dark cloudy days use a darker color so it matchs the enviroment.

I recommend sticking with the basics for my lizard presentations.

For fish the gin clear waters of the north I would recommend a green pumpkin or a water-mellow.

For the more stained colored waters or late day/early morning I would recommend a black, pumpkin, or green pumpkin again.

There or many different various and colors in lizards. I would recommend starting with the basics and ask the bodies of water best know fishing store what they think. You can also go a little further with researching different lake bait fish and forage. Just because maybe a lizard is not a main item on the fishes food chain you can fool the fish with a different coloed lizard. An example is that if you have a pumpkin colored lizard and a main forage on a body of water for the time of the year has a hatch of brown crayfish you can fool the fish with the lizard. They may get used to seeing the traditional colored crayfish but a different bait such as the lizard looks "cool" and the fish may give it a try!

I hope this help and good luck with your learning!

4 or 6 inch, pumkin seed or junebug color always work best for me. I use them with lead head 1/8 or 1/16th ounce, depending on current .

You can go by the "rule of thumb" and use darker colors on bright days and brighter on dark days - but really, that does not always work and some do the opposite! Try this;
Try more natural colors like the greens/pumpkin seed but also add a red/black fleck as well. If you live in a region that has lizard type creatures/salamanders, etc - try the natural colors first. I use Pumpkin seed and red/black fleck often and they both work great. Good Fishing

green pumpkin is what works here for me in NC. They seem to git more bites in the spring, but that is just in the river I fish most. My buddies fish them all year with good results.

I have been using the watermelon seed lizard for the past two years. I have caught bass on it everytime I have fished the many lakes in my area. The only exception was fishing a dark river and then I switched to a black curly tail plastic worm and caught 3 bass. I think the lizard bumped along the bottom is a great lure. I recommend light color for clear water and dark colors for dark water.

Pumpkin is the only color color I use. It works so great, never had to try another color. I prefer the mini lizard over the larger lizards. The mini lizards tend to get beat up after bass hit em.. I usually get about 2 bass/per lizard before I have to put on another. I always have a minimum of 2 bags in my box at all times. Outstanding Zoom product!
