Yes, depending on how far and secure it is in the ground, I'd say any fish over 3 LBS could pull this into the water if you don't secure it into the ground.

I think it's around 1 1/2" inside or close too.All of my straight handled rods will fit just fine, but not a pistol grip shape.
The rod holder section only covers about 4" of the handle so if the back of your rod handle is long this might not work.

There's about 5 or 6 in to stick down into the ground before you put the handle of you rod into it. Once it's in there, I don't think you have to worry about your pole getting away!A:
