I have a Dodge Ram 1500 with an 8ft bed. It has a plastic liner. I would like to attach the staps to the liner on the right side of the bed. I have a lockable hard cover on the bed, so security is not an issue.

Yes, you need to install a 1/2 inch brace on the back side of the bed liner before installing the rod holder.

A:
Designed to mount your fishing rods to the deck of the boat. This type of rod holder is screwed into place. If you do not mind, screwing it down then it would work. If not, try vehicle rod holder, example 38-542-956-00.

It's about 12 inches. I mounted mine where the strap is hooked but it won't come unhooked. Place the poles in and it holds it down good.
