If you have the 5500C3 then no, it does not have a clicker. The 6500 does have a clicker and well worth the $$.

Grew up on Abu's, now starting to fish again after 20 yrs w/ my son. Fishing for rainbow trout on 4lb line, 3 small split shot, #6 hook and dough bait. Have taught him how to use his push button ultra light, so time for me to pick up a reel. Planned to pair this with an ultra light rod and same line, rig, etc. Can a bait cast handle that light of a set up and cast okay?

For this application I would recommend a spinning reel.

I bet it feels good to be fishing again. I got back into it after 25 years and there's a learning curve. The equipment is so much better. For your purposes I would think a spinning outfit would serve you well. There are many excellent spinning reels, ultra light and smaller size Abu Garcia, Pflueger, Bass Pro, etc. that would work well for that type of fishing. Hope this helps. Have fun.

Would he 4601 be ok for bluefish with 12 pound test. I would prefer the 4601 as opposed to the other models because i prefer a reel with a thumb bar.

The C3 4601 is the first baitcaster I bought many years ago and still use today. It will easily handle 12 lb mono. I use mono and braid and they work well. I agree with you about the thumb bar. Much easier and quicker to use.

A:
The 4601C3 is rated for 10 lbs. / 170 yards of Mono or 30 lbs. / 160 yards of braided. It will work fine with 12 lb test line, but will hold less of the 12 lb than the 10 lb.

ugly stik tiger lite?

How would this reel pair up with a ugly stik lite? Which model?

A:
DO NOT use this reel with a ugly stick! Ugly stick is a terribly unsensitive rod that is only popular because it is impossible to break. I used mine with a Lamiglas rouge river and it is a joy to use. Try not to just go just with the cheapest rod on the market because you want to have a rod that corresponds perfectly with the reel. Why bother to buy a great reel but use it with a bad rod like an ugly stik.

I too would upgrade but an Ugly Stick will do just fine. They'e great rods. Don't listen to anyone that says they aren't. I like a 6'6" MH for a general purpose rod.

I wouldn't put a great reel like that on that kind of rod. Upgrade a little.

no more than any other. Washing it under the faucet with warm soapy water will take care of most of it. This reel is easy to disassemble and put back together. Get you some cue tips and some alcohol and you're set.

Yes. It's not hard though. Just take the sideplate off and clean then lightly oil according the manuals instructions. I recommend relubing after every use. Especially if you're fishing in Salwater.

I fish saltwater. I spooled it with 50lbs. spiderwire(first time using it and it is much worse than powerpro, but still not bad) and have it on a medium heavy 7' rod

A:
I use mine for carp, catfish, crappie, sand bass, bass, hybrids, & strippers. Use a 6'6" MH Carbonlite rod spooled with 30lb. powerpro or Suffix 832 braid and fish for almost any kind of fish up to 20lb. If I was going after 40+ pound big blue cats I'd use a different set-up like a Garcia 6500c3, 7 to 8 foot glass rod with 65 to 80 pound braid.

The 4600 does not have the clicker. But the 6500 side cover assembly that has the clicker can be had for around 25 dollars and will bolt right on.
