You can unscrew the crank and turn it around so the handle is on either left or right side. I have mine set up for right handed.

you should be able to loosen the screw on the opposite side of the crank handle and pull the crank out to switch sides.

not my choice for catfish. a good reel for beginners and even though the 'experts' you run into fishing won't admit it....everyone has started out fishing with a zebco 33.

This reel is very tough. I have landed serval bass around 3 or 4 pounds. I caught them while I was topwater bream fishing.

Depending if it is left-handed or right-handed, loosen the through bolt on the opposite side of the handle with fingers or screwdriver. Turn bolt head a few turns counter-clockwise and that will allow room for the handle to pivot outward and downward to align in proper position. Remember to retighten the bolt head.

Loosen the the screw on the other side of the crank handle, flip the handle up and tighten the screw back down, you're ready to fish!

I would suggest a Voltaeus rod by Shimano. I use the VTS-60M2. Unifiber construction. Two piece 6' rod. Also available at Bass Pro Shops. Not necessarily the cheapest, but under $40 bucks!
