Ugly Stick Spinning combos are good. I really like my Berkely rod and Abu Garcia cardinal spinning reel. Gander Mountain brand spinning combos are also good and cheap. Hope this helps.

I would go with a Shakespeare Ugly Stik spincast combo. They are built well and are only around $40.
