most of it is just trial and error process because every lake is differnt and the same with the fish in it but from my understanding it mostly depends of the water color of the day

Both style of trailers mimic a crawfish. Think about what color the natural food is and go with that. In grass watermelon red. If your swimming it go with white or gray/smoke

the warmer the water, the more action you want. Early in the year, craws are probably THE trailer to use... and if you're going for smallmouths; they LOVE craws! If you're flipping wood, I would use something abit more compact as a trailer. Water clarity is also a factor - the clearer the water, the more natural/subtle you wanna go... the dingier the water, go for darker and/or gaudy colors.

I always use a trailer. I like to hide the hook and the trailer gives a better action. The type of trailer is the item I change. My first choice is a craw then a pork chunk and maybe a twin tail.

sometimes it depends if the bass are looking for a subtle drop and light twitch or a very active jig. Try to match colors to the skirt and determine whether the bass are going to be more aggressive or taking little nibbles. I would go for a jig trailer with a lot of action if the bass are aggressive

A:
I use 3/8 oz most of the time because I like a larger bait presentation. I will upgrade to 1/2 depending on the lake and conditions.
My primary color is green with a matching trailer. Again most of my success has been with a green trailer. Night tournaments I will convert to black/blue with matching trailer.
