I have a problem with all my butler Creek scope covers. They pop up constantly. Especially at the most in opportune time (snow falling from a tree).
It seems to be a consistent problem all day in the field.

Does anyone have a tip to keep the flip covers in the down position?

A:
I've found that when they start flipping open, that you have to pull the covers part way off the scope, maybe a 1/16", Just enough to allow them to close all the way. What happens is that they "creap" onto the scope until the cover starts popping open easily. BTW, the new covers are very cheaply made now and break easily. The old covers worked better and lasted.

If you have a veneer caliper, simply measure the OD of you "eye" and "objective" ends of the scope. Follow the chart supplied on the item and match as close as possible. I recommend keepping the fit a little tight; i.e. 0.005-0.010"

Ther is a product out there that is non specific to sizes I think its called the Scope Braw. They come in small medium and large. The flexible, stretchable end covers create a water tight seal over any scope. The whole thing is like a designer rubber band, just stretch it over and peal if off. Its slick and easy.

Every manufactor and model of scopes are different. Unfortunately, the manufactor does not supply the OD dimensions of the "eye" and "objective" ends. The simplest way is to measure the OD of your scope ends with a veneer caliper. Onces you know these measurements, you can match to the chart supplied on the item. I suggest you keep the fit a little tight; i.e. <0.005-0.010"
