My Son is 6 yrs of age, does not have a large head but he'll outgrow his boonie hat by the end of this years archery season. Order the next sz larger and if it seems too big, add folded newspaper inside the head band or have them wear it over a thin stocking cap if the weather/season permits this.

It doesn't adjust. Whatever size ou order is what you get and nothing more. It also doesn't have a neck/chin strap on it which would help keep it on in windy conditions if adjusted to the back of the head area as with most military boonie hats have (Viet Nam type).
