Hit 'em hard with one of the most effective lipless crankbaits of all time, the legendary Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap Mini-Trap! Rat-L-Traps are a proven choice when fish are feeding on smaller forage. Its lifelike detail and ability to produce sounds nearly identical to those of schooling baitfish under attack are just two reasons more pro anglers CHOOSE to use Rat-L-Traps when targeting largemouth, smallies, white bass and many saltwater species.
Bleeding Shad colors all have bright red treble hooks.

In my opinion, using a bopper is a no-no. If your concern is fishing 2-3 feet of water, try using a shallow crankbait or something top water. With a bopper you can't make use of that sporadic movement and noise making ability as well.
Rat-L-Traps will outfish any lipless crank no matter size or color...i use all the red hook colors and catch all kinds of fish. If you use the tiny trap you will cach litterally EVERYTHING.
Each model has it's own unique sound and vibration. With all of the variables out there, sometimes it's hard to second guess a Bass. The best thing to do is get one of each and try them out in your neck of the woods. Keep a log and see which one is the most productive.
this is WAY better i have done a test with super spots and bill lewis and i caught zero fish on the super spot and 24 on the bill lewis...on 1 trip...and they were the same colors. Also bill lewis traps have better hooks and oval split rings...Bill Lewis all the way
I prefer the Bill Lewis baits. Perhaps, because they're a better fisherman lure, but I find they have more adjustments, and the paint lasts longer when fishing rocky rivers and lakes. Plus, they seem to come in more sizes.
That being said, the Cordells are cheaper, so I use those when fishing near heavy cover where a Rat-L-Trap could get hung up.
Finally, I prefer the action of the Bill Lewis Lures. I haven't done a side-by-side comparison yet, but it seems to be a louder lure with a more pronounced vibration.
I really like the Orange Crawdad and Toledo Gold colors. they seem to work well for smallmouth on the rivers by my house.
Tequila Bleeding Shad is another color I use for evening largemouth fishing on the lake.
I've tried Rootbeer, Gold, and a few others, but I'm not convinced color plays a huge part compared to the rattle and flash. I use the colors I use often, because they are carried by a local store with a limited supply, not because of any strong preference...although I do find myself catching more on the orange craw color.
