Of course he could...he may find it trivial...it is for ages 6+up. probably not the best choice your kiddo, as my 7 yr old loves it and thinks it the coolest.

On the box, it states that it has an "6.5 inch coil". I know that it adjusts in length. My 10 year old son and 3 year old daughter can both use it comfortably.
