a buzzbait has a "propellor". A spinner bait has a loose blade that wobbles.

Different blade configuration and totally different type of blades. Buzz baits are for top water and spinners are for under water.

A buzzbait is designed to run on top of the water with a fixed 2 or 3 blade "propeller" a spinner bait can be fished at pretty much any depth and has a single blade attached to a swivel that will allow it to spin 360 degrees so it will create a metallic flash under the water imitating the silver scales of a fleeing baitfish. A buzzbait relies more on sound thus the name "Buzz" bait.

Buzz baits are meant to be worked on the top only. Spinners can be worked on both top middle and bottom. they both have different blades too.
