Assuming you picked the models that were similar length and dive depths, what is the difference between these Fat Free Shads and the Bomber Flat A series? Which of the two would you prefer?
the shape of the lure. and the flat a. I've had a lot of success on the flat A in firetiger. caught seven small bass in seven casts on one fallen over tree once.
Both are good baits and both will catch fish. All crankbaits have different action, and for the most part no two are alike. You just have to figure out what the fish want and go from there. Both baits have their own colors some colors will work better then others depending on the situation. I personally prefer the fat free shad over Bomber baits.
Your color is going to more depend on the time of year and water color. Foxy shad is a great color and is very natural in the water. I would use this color for semi clear water. When I hit lakes that have really clear water, I go with a more ghost transparent color scheme. When I fish lakes that are muddy and/or stained, I go with one with more chart. and/or some with more black or dark colors.
That depends on what type of forage the fish are feeding on. It is a good color but wont be very productive if there are not shad for forage. That does not mean that it wont catch fish because it will.
The color depends on water clarity. Firetiger is a good color but there will be situations where this color might not work. You have to fish the bait and determine if that is what the fish want.
Depends on the depth you are trying to reach...generally bigger run deeper. I like for my crankbaits to stay in contact with the bottom as much as possible since it makes their action more irratic and as they kick up sand or silt, they look like a fleeing crawfish.
Get two as a very minimum UNLESS you know the water color you are going to be fishing most. If stained to muddy, firetiger will be hard to beat. If clear water, a shad type color (silver or white).
The fat free shad will catch fish but again it depends on where you are fishing and the conditions. Both baits will produce for you but both baits perform differently and have different sizes. You have to let the fish tell you what they want. The fat free shad is a very good bait but the wart does well.
