After breaking this rod and a Daiwa D-Shock, they look like they are made out of the same stuff. The D-Shock is a graphite blank so I imagine this one is also.

Based on my preference and not performance, I would take the MiniSpin. You can expect both reels to perform equally well, so choose the type of reel you feel most comfortable with.
