This innovative wet-weather apparel system provides the most durably waterproof, breathable and windproof performance money can buy. And when you buy a GORE-TEX garment rated for Extreme Wet Weather, you are assured that the product will keep you dry in even the most severe weather. In order to meet Gore’s Extreme Wet Weather Protection standards, garments are tested in 22" of rain per hour in the Gore Storm Chamber using wind-driven and drenching overhead rainfall. Once the product passes the rigorous test, only then is it approved to carry the Extreme Wet Weather hangtag.

A:
No, the insulation is in the inner jacket. But it is handy if it is too warm for the insulation and you are hunting in the rain.

A:
yes it does, also the top of the hood comes far enough forward so that the rain doesn't drip on your face

The insulated inner jacket is super quiet but the outer shell that's waterproof can be kind of loud, wearing the two together would be a little bulky anyway for bowhunting

The coat is quiet. But if you lean up against a tree, it will make a noise when you pull away.

How quiet is the coat?

I am a bow hunter and do not like to use noisy coats or pants. Is this quiet enough to draw a bow back without being heard?

The coat is quiet and does not normally make any noise. But if you are leaning against a tree, when you pull away it does make a noise.

A:
I wear a wool base and a fleece mid layer i usually pack in the parka/bibs and put them on about 100 yards before i climb in my stand, otherwise the insulation will insulate the cold air in like a cooler, so the last 100 yards helps me build up enough heat to warm up the cold air i sealed in when i put it on.

Just a long sleeve shirt and pants no matter how cold. If you wear too many layers you will sweat.

if you are going to hunt in 30 F or below i wear a base layer to soak up sweat, then i usually wear a hooded sweatshirt over that, then the jacket, i leave the zipper wide open for the walk in.

My firs trip I wore Fleece pants and shirt it was 29degrees outside. I got hot and sweaty I thought when I sit down I will get cold chills. I was amazed when I did not get a bit cold even after sitting in 20 degree weather .

I have tested both and extreme elements is better by far. It is made with Gortex and is truely waterproof. CWS is NOT waterproof. It is okay for light snow and cold weather but not rain.

I wear Extreme Elements and have CWS system for my son.We wear the same size and have switched on occasion. In my opinion the Extreme Elements is slightly warmer, but both do a very good job of keeping you warm and dry !

From the reviews that I read, the Bone Dry was not as reliable for keeping someone dry as the Gore Tex. I purchased teh Gore Tex Extream Elements Parka and love it. You get what you pay for and believe me it is well worth the money.

over 34 years for skiing and hunting and fishing outdoor wear, i have purchased 10 other types of waterproof stuff, CWS, ganders guide series, frog togs, gloves, hats, pants, jackets you name it. I will only buy Goretex now, all other brands have failed me time and time again, make the investment the first time.
