I know the traditional teachings say that a baitcast reel is better for walking the dog with topwaters (b/c of their high retrieve ratio). BUT, when it comes to walking the dog, is a baitcaster with a 6:2:1 retrieve really that much better than a spinning reel with a 5:2:1 retrieve? I just bought a Boca 40, and I wanna know if it would work for throwing She Dogs, Super Spooks, and/or Super Spook Jrs.

This is a great reel for throwing top water lures. It is also good at throwing spinner baits, jigs, crankbaits, worms, and live bait. Spinning reels are way better then baitcasters. I highly recomend this reel.

A:
I recomend a size 60 reel for offshore fishing, grouper, and wreck fish. I recomend a size 40 reel for sea bass and tile fish. If you use braided line I recomend using 60 pound braided line for the size 60 reel if you go for grouper and wreck fish. If you get the size 40 reel get 10 or 20 pound braided line for sea bass and tile fish.

it depends on how far offshore and the size of the fish you are going for but i would say a 60 or 70 for the grouper and 60 for the rest

This is one of the best reels you can get for red fish and trout. Red fish don't stop fighting and because of this you need a strong reel to catch them. This is the perfect reel for red fish and trout. If you don't like this reel for a strange reason, the Penn Spinfisher or the Phlueger President is the way to go.

This reel would be ideal for redfish or trout. I'd get either a 30 or 40.
