You can, but you would have to screw the arm back in each time you climb up the tree. To me its not much more difficult to throw the strap around and sinch it down.
It can be done but I don't recommend it with this arm. The arm is attached to the base with a thumb screw instead of a pin. So when taking it off or putting it back together requires total concentration. Would hate to think of dropping the screw because the chance of finding it would be slim.
it comes with an attachment that comes with the arm that screws into the bottom of the camera. so as long as your camera has a screw in the bottom of it will work.
the arm that attaches to the mount is 10 1/2", the arm that attaches to that arm is 9 inches, and the end is 9 inches. you can fold them up for smaller storage but they can extend from the tree a good distance.
