Plenty strong, but have only used it on two animals at this point. Do not expect it to break for a long time.

I want to be able to cut the lower half of deer legs off without packing another saw.

Would this do the job?

A:
I usually do not cut off the leg bones in the field, but you could with this saw. It would be all you need in the field, with a sharp knife of course.

I want to cut through deer leg bones. Is that possible with the Gerber E-Z Saw II without getting my knuckles hurt by them hitting the bone each time I stroke forward?

And can it still cut leg bones good without ruining your knuckles?

I bought the shorter version for field dressing only. When butchering I would use a longer saw. You may want to check out the longer version.

A:
If you have a solid hold on the leg, there is no problem cutting through the leg bone.

A:
for gutting a deer, I like the shorter blade so that when you push down, you don't get the blade caught on all the junk in the body. If you are using it on something like an elk or moose, the longer blade might be helpfull.
