I shot a deer 45 minutes after puting it out. Before that I put it out 2 weeks before the season began.

If you plan to keep putting more out there then put it out as early as possible

Hard to tell. I can tell you that it works great by itself. I just pour on the ground and some rotten logs/limbs. Look at the pic's...you can tell where I poured it. I had 0 pic's before using it.
