this product seems similar to deer cane, which requires added water. does this need added water and does this work better than deer cane, because deer cane doesn't work that good.

A: 
Granular mix can be poured onto the ground or fed in a trough. No water

•pour 3/4 of a 5-lbs bag into the indentation and mix into the ground, pouring the remainder of the bag on top of the ground
•when deer find your site they'll visit it repeatedly so we recommend you refresh the site every other month
•to refresh, pour a 5-lbs bag of Vita-Rack 26® on an existing lick-site and mix into the ground
