It should fit any spincast or baitcasting reel. The more important thing is to make sure the rod is balanced. Place your pointer finger where the cork handle meets the rod blank...if the pole is completely horizontal with the ground then you have a good balanced setup. If it is slightly off it is OK, as long as you are comfortable with the feel of the setup. Always have the reel in hand and on the rod before you buy any rod!Q:

The tourney rod is not as sensitive and light as the bionic blade since it is made with IM7 graphite instead of the bionic blades IM8. The only advantage the bionic blade doesn't have is that it is not made with cork handles. They used to, but not anymore...I just prefer cork handles to foam handles.

You want alot of backbone and a longer rod to carry the weight....a 7' MH fast action rod would work fine.

You would want a medium-heavy or heavy action going for catfish, and as long a rod as you can handle would be the best. A 7'10" Crankin' Stick rod is awesome for catfish (and pike in Michigan) with the power and backbone to fight big fish and the flexibility in the tip for when they make their runs. I use this rod and love it for bass, pike, & catfish. If you are good with a baitcast reel, this is a great rod for a lot of different bass & pike presentations beyond crankbaits, and catfish. I recommend anything Medium-Heavy for those fighting cats! There have been some big cats caught out here and I think the guy used a Medium-Heavy rod. I would too!Answers

Usually when it has the ** under how many pieces the rod is, that means a retractable butt section. In other words, you can lengthen or shorten the rod by pulling the butt out or pushing it in. That helps if you have to put it in a car with limited space. I use all 1 piece rods as long as possible. I have 7'10" rods in the BPS Crankin' Stick (38-156-730-00) , BPS Big Bass Nitro, BPS Extreme, & BPS Johnny Morris Signature Series for baitcast rods in addition to 2 Johnny Morris Elite 7'10" Spinning rods which are also one piece. I love these longer rods and won't use shorter rods anymore, in fact I sold my shorter rods to get more 7'10" rods.Images for this Answer

I am stuck between these two. Looking at 7' Medium Heavy, Moderate Fast rod for an overall SB rod. Both great sticks. One is obviously 30$ cheaper. CL Micro is a little under .400lbs while the TS is ~ .525lbs so this is really not too significant for me. It boils down to the lure weight rating. The CL rates up to 1oz lures. The TS is able to handle 1.5oz. I will be mostly throwing 3/8th and 3/4oz SBs but I will be using 1oz+ here and there so it is imperative this rod can toss that weight and toss it far.So which do you guys think is the better choice? I am sure going over 1/4 or 1/2 ounce over the lure weight rating probably won't do harm to the rod as long as I am careful but I feel that that rule of thumb is directed toward "softer" rods, unlike the CarbonLite. So I am bit uneasy saying the stiff CL won't snap while using a heavier lure b/c I feel it might not handle overloading the lure weight rating. Anybody have used or think heavier SBs on either one of these rods will work?
Which rod is your recommendation?
Other rods in the similar price range and features are accepted and appreciated.

Good question! First off more expensive rod = higher end blank = more sensitivity = quality craftsmenship. So quality would go to the CL. As for weight handling I would go with the TS. I have had one TS and I loved it...but you can't beat the light weight and the microguides of the CL. Other rods I would suggest would be the St. Croix Mojo Bass rod, St. Croix Premier, and the BPS Bionic Blade

I have been using the 7' MH BPS Tourney Special rod for a long time and love it for not only spinnerbaits but also crankbaits too. It's got enough backbone on it to handle bass over 20" and pike over 35", yet has enough tip that fish can surge near the boat and you don't have to worry about ripping lures out of a fish's mouth. I love my Tourney Special so much that I made my friend buy the same rod.Images for this Answer

I'd take the tourney special. It's proven for years to be a great rod, I bought a heavy action one for swimbaits and frogs and that failed at all. I have only heard a few bad things about the carbonlites guides but never had any problems with my tourney special. When you are throwing a bait thats heavy the rod weight doesnt really matter much anyway.
