A:
I use braid on the 7 ft medium-heavy Tourney Special and have never had a problem. With braided lines there is no stretch so you can keep the drag a little looser than you would with mono or fluorocarbon lines and still get good hook sets. If you set the drag as tight as possible and use cheaper rods, that's usually when people run into problems. You can use braid with a Tourney Special rod.

A:
The aluminum oxide guides on this rod should be able to handle your braided line. The versions of braided line today are much less abrasive than those that where originally being used. For more information on line varieties and how to choose the line that is right for you, please visit http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/s....

BPS TOURNEY VS. BPS BIONIC

Details:
which of these two is a better purchase ? as i am looking for a rod no bigger than 6' because of the area i am going to be fishing is narrow. Another is that the rod with be paired with the Shimano Citica OR BPS Carbon Lite.

thank you.

A:
If you are looking for a more powerful rod that would be the Bionic Blade, but if you want a softer tip then the Tourney Special is better. I would go with the Shimano Citica reel.

Both rods are premium rods, the 2011 Bionic Blades have been slimmed down and are lighter and more sensitive.

A:
No. Casting & Trigger rods are not designed for spinning reels. You want a rod from Bass Pro Shops in the spinning category. It should say spinning rod. If you used a casting rod and spinning reel you would have problems with the rod guides being too small and you wouldn't be able to hold the rod correctly because it has a trigger that would get in your way.

Yes.....one piece 5'-6" in length.
Had to go with shorter rod due to short boat length.
