It depends on what kind of bobber stop it is.A bobber stop that is made of line or thread wrapped around the line can fit any size line.

I have found that they will work on a highest of 12 lb mono and almost any braid.

i think they will probably work something around 6 - 8# test mono(.o11 dia.) without any problem. the smaller the diameter the line, the more likely the bobber will tend to slide around on the line. using larger diameter line just might tear up the stop as you try to slide it into position up the line. not enough weight on the end of the line may cause the bobber stop to bump along the rod guides and shorten your casting distance. a lot of trial and error with getting these to work as intended, but they do get you down to fish without hanging up on the bottom when used correctly. great for using minnows to get to those deep water crappie.Answers

You put a bobber stop on your line then a plastic bead, then your slip bobber, then your split shot sinker then your hook.You slide the bobber stop to the place you want the bobber to be above your hook & bait, this sets how deep in the water the bait will be.
When you cast, the shot, hook & bait sink, the bobber moves up the line pushing the bead up until the bead reaches the bobber stop & can't go any further, the bobber can't pass over the bead so the bead & bobber stay where the bobber stop is and the bobber keeps the bait at the depth you set with the bobber stop.

A movable stop is attached to line at whatever depth you wish to fish, with a bead between it and the bobber. You can use almost any kind of bobber as a slip bobber, only requirement is, the line must be able to slide through the fasteners on the bobber. This way you reel in the line until the bobber is close to your rod tip, the bobber stop will feed through your rod guides. You can cast without a bunch of line hanging below the bobber.1 of 1
