What line?

Details: 
I fish for largemouth bass and blue gill in golf course lakes and ponds. I am going to be putting new line on one of the reels. What would be a good color to use? I don't use braided line. Would yellow work? Please recomend any line and tell me if yellow would work.

good question. my answer would be to stay as far away from yellow line as possible as it is very visible and should only be used in night fishing or EXTREMELY murky or dark water. The only line i use is stren. by 550 yards of stren flourecent blue line. it is extremely difficult for fish to see this and it is very tough and reliable.....not to mention....cheep. you will never go wrong with stren.

I would say use whatever color you would like, but then tie a swivel at the end of your main line and use about 12 inches of clear fluorocarbon line before tying up to your hook or lure. The fluorocarbon should be about 1.5 times the breaking strength of your main line so it is more abrasion resistant to anything it may encounter. This will keep the visibility of the line to the fish down, and prevent from abrasion cut offs from fish or structure.

I used Berkley for a while but saw that it had little abrasion resistance. Stren for me has held up really well to rocks and doesn't have too much memory. I plan on getting KVDs line and lure this spring/summer. I used 14 pound Stren at first, but I find that 12 pound is a good all around line size. Go with Green I find that I get more bites with green than with clear blue because green blends really well into stained water. I think the fish can see the clear blue line. Now if you are fishing clear water ponds don't even bother getting mono get fluorocarbon. XPS by Bass Pro is a good line. KVD uses it. Good fishin'!

Try the stren original with a flourocarbon leader. Works great for me and is less costly then spooling with all flourocarbon.

yellow might work but i would definitely use clear blue floresent. if your going to use 1 line for bass and blue gill i would always use 12.

Seems like one line brand likes this way and others like it the other way. I'm referencing straight on like a Baitcaster and, or label up off the floor.

I use a bolt clamped in a vise to have the spool pointed toward the reel.

Spool should unwind so the line goes on the reel like it was on the spool.

Secure the spool with a washer and nut.

Pass the line through the middle of a thick book to add some drag.

Thread the line through the last eye and secure it to the reel with a Aebor Knot.

Wind away !!

The line needs to go on the reel the same way it comes off the spool. Spinning reels turn in different directions so there is no correct answer to label up or down. The only way to know if you are doing it right is to spin a few wraps on the reel and stop to see if the loose line is twisted. If it is twisted, untwist it and turn the spool over to take line off of it in the opposite direction.
