They are the same, Picture just shows them laying in a diff. postion. All the same worm.

I would think that winter or fall would be the best time because that's when i use ribworms, but i usually use them rigged weightless. this worm looks like it should be rigged texas or carolina which aren't usually winter riggings.

I use them year round. I usually rig texas style with 1/8th oz sinker in the spring and fall and Carolina rigged in the summer. Pitch into tree tops and if there is a bass there it'll bite.

This worm is ribbed for vibration and also grip. You need to be able to get the worm onto cover. I suggest you texas rig the worm and use large hops to move it back. Then you get the vibration and the action of the tail.
