Supposedly there is some way to rig a folding grappling anchor so you can remove the anchor if it should become stuck in the bottom of the river. How is this anchor rigged?Answers

There is a small hole located at the bottom of the anchor. This is intended for a rope that is attached to a small float. If the grapple will not release you pull on the float at 180 degrees to the direction of your drift and it should pull the grapple out from what ever it is caught under. The reality is that most people don't bother with the second line and float and only wish they had put in on when they get hung up.Q:

I would like to know if the 7 lb anchor would be big enough to hold my targa 16 ft tracker v-bottom.

I fish Lake of the Ozarks and normaly do not fish in much over 20 ft of water.Would it take two to hold the boat in a light wind.

A:
The weight of the anchor is typically not what is used to hold you in place. The type of anchor and the type of bottom along with the length of anchor line are the critical items. The anchor needs to be able to grab whether it be in weeds, mud, or rocks and stay connected as the boat moves around due to the wind and waves. The longer the anchor rope the less chance it will pull free as the anchor stays closer to being parallel to the bottom. Adding a couple of feet of chain will work better than a heavier anchor.

Bass Pro has one folding anchor that comes in a case for Kayaks. I have a 7 Lbs folding anchor and I think you would like that one best as you might have strong currents.A:
