Don't worry about its weight...worry about breaking your neck...should only be used while hunting on the ground in my opinion. If you are just hankering to try out your safety harness, this is a sure bet way to do it.Details:

The seat uses a strap, but a wratchet strap would be better.

What else would you strap it to? Seriously though, this is fine for ground hunting but I'm skeptical about its safety in a tree stand even with a safety harness. I have a similar one I've used for years when ground hunting and using a protable ground blind.A:
I put mine directly on the tree. Using 1 or 2 more ratchet straps makes a huge difference.A:
