Rhythmic rattle sends out distressed minnow signal
Quick diving lip design
Lifelike finishes
VMC® Black Nickel Hooks
The rattling, suspending Jointed Shad Rap's "distressed minnow" swimming action has proven that its slower, more pronounced wide-action is "just the ticket" when fish are in a negative or sluggish feeding mood. Running depth: 4'-15'.

Probably depends on the local forage, but I caught several largemouths, between six and nine pounds, on the perch model at Keuka Lake, recently. Keuka, one of the Finger Lakes, has plentiful perch; other patterns may work better elsewhere.
I bought a couple of Rapala lures including the Rapala Jointed Shad Rap. I think that they would be great lures for where I fish but they all have the same problem. When I reel it in it tends to flip onto its back or darts to the left or the right and its not the right action. What can I do to prevent this?
Gently bend the eye (where you attach the line) the opposite way the lure is running. They shouldn't do that right out of the box. They do get out of tune.
I have encountered this problem as well, and my solution was to make sure my cast was straight and not moving to much in the air, and to not reel in to quickly when the lure hits the water. Hope this helps.

i think your retrieve is to fast. just slow it down a little.
It may be doing that because of the speed you're reeling in. Also, make sure that you're not using a swivel or a leader. Tie the lure directly on to your line and make sure that the knot is on the front of the ring and not on the top. If that doesn't help, try going to Rapala's website and look for more information there. They have a great website, giving you all of the information you need about each and every product they make.
This could be helped with a sticker weight added to the belly of the bait. Darting to the left or right might not be a bad thing, as the added action may entice even more bites. If it really bothers you, use a pair of needle-nose pliers to twist the split ring into a straighter position.
dont buy Rapalas, seriously they all seem to need tuned out of the box. tie your line directly to the lure and you may have to bend the eye to the right or left to get them to run right
It just depends on your preference. I like jointed when the fish aren't really biting because the action that it has is so life-like. Regular crank-baits are great, too. It is just up to you. I have a few jointed baits in my arsenal, but I have hundreds more single body cranks.
I personally like the jointed lures better only because they have better action that simple one pieced lures. If you have a jointed lure, it is great to give it a little twitch to make it look wounded or hurt I guess you could say. Buy yea, Jointed are my favorite for the action
We had a problem the hooks straightened out, o rings were pulled long and the bill got twisted on a craw pattern. By the way it was on a 46 inch musky and yes we got it to the boat, that lure is now decoration
I have not had a problem with the lip but i have had problems with the treble hooks coming off....but yeah like stonefly said contact rapala or bass pro shops and get it replaced.
I have not had that problem, but I'm sure if you contact rapala they will replace them. Try e-mailing them describing what happened. If you bought it here, talk to bass pro also.
Suspend, relatively. it's definately not a perfect suspending lure. if you have a steel leader on, then it will sink slowly, rather then rise, if you don't have a leader on
