A: 
These traps will work anywhere there are crawfish present. Basically stand on the shore and observe the edge of the water. If you see crawfish there you can throw your trap in. Best bait I have seen work is fish scraps. Freeze your scraps from your fillets in a bag, throw the frozen scraps in the trap and put it in the water.

do i use bait for this trap

do i have to put bait in the trap to get crawdads in or do they just go in if it needs bait whaT should i use

I don't have one of these traps but I would use dogfood or place some in a piece if panty hose and wire both ends shut and hook or wire to bottom and place trap on bottom of creek or where ever you r planning to use it. The dogfood will seep out and draw them in and the pantyhose is thick enough to make sure that not too much comes out at once. I hope that this might be some help for you.
