A:
Mine locks at any length. You just have to extend it out to the length that you need and twist the locks down tight. It can reach 17-18 feet and is about 5-6 feet long when not in use. It should be able to fit inside any rod locker and stay out of the way when laying on the casting deck.

Mdn Austin, it can be locked at whatever lenght you need out to 18ft, and its close to 4 1/2 ft when fully collapsed.
I would reccomend tapping over the brad near the front end and don't use it to retrieve lures you can't see. The curly-que end bends easily under very little pressure.

Yes, it has about 5 twists to get to full legnth but you just need to adjust it to the legnth you need. The longer one starts 6 1/2, and the smaller one starts at 5 feet
