.22 semi-autos are notoriously finicky about what ammunition will work ok in them. You might want to contact S&W directly to see if they recommend the CCI shotshells.

A:
If the rifle and the m&p 15 both fire .22 LR then yes they both should shoot the cartriges. HOWEVER, using the "shot shell" cartriges out of a rifle can damage the rifling (grooves) that was formed into your barrel to impart a "spin" on the projectile and give you greater accuracy/range.PERSONALLY I WOULD NOT use "shot shell" cartrige in ANY firearm that has rifling, to avoid damaging the barrel. If you really need to use them (I have used them to kill copperheads (snakes) I would advise you get a derrenger or "snub nosed" revolver that has no/limited rifling. You can pick up a 2-shot double barrel derrenger/pocket pistol for about $100-$150, maybe cheaper depending on where you look(they will fire regular 22LR bullets to)Hope that helps!
