Our high-quality Strung Saddle Hackle is a must have fly tying material. Versatile, flexible and easy to wrap, this Strung Saddle Hackle works extremely well for streamers, wet, bass and saltwater flies. It's almost as important as the hook on Wooly Buggers. Saddle hackle is always from the rooster but you have to be carefull.Large saddle hackle is used for streamers, wooly bugsand some wet flys, You can use the smaller ones near the base of the feather for drys.A hen hackle cape should be marked hen, but if you are not sure you can tell by looking at them. A roosters neck ( saddle ) comes to a long tapper at the end of the feather and a hens is rounded.

Strung saddle hackle comes from a rooster. Marabuo featers are NOT saddle feathers. I am sorry I do not know what fowel they come from.

Marabou feathers come from Turkeys. The real Marabou is from a Marabou Stork. Importation issues make the real thing very expensive if not impossible to obtain.
