In clear water try to mimic the baitfish in that area. Like the bluegill, pumpkin etc. and for stained to muddy I like the chartreuse colors. But my primary choices are sexy shad and chartreuse sexy shad. Cant beat em!
It depends on the water clarity. In muddy water I think the dark colors are better. In stain water blue chart is good. I clear water if bass is on bluegill bite bluegill colors are great (bull bream,firetiger or pumkinseed)
It's pretty durable. The only scratch I got on mine was stupidity on my part. I was fishing off my dock and didn't realize where my rod tip was and whacked the lure off a piling with a metal plate on it. Made a gash in the paint. Other than that it was fine. Sexy shad is my best color.
I have used b oth baits for bass fishing and I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE PAINT JOBS ON EITHER BAITS. ONE IF THE EYES WAS KNOCKED OFF OF ONE OF THE CRANKBAITS AFTER SEVERAL HOURS OF USE.
If you want the best Strike King is the best. Their crankbaits are the best in the country and maybe in the world no one can even compare their durability and their paint jobs are flawless. They have awesome action too and I will guarantee you that you will catch a ton of fish with these lipless crankbaits if you fish them correctly.
