You've got some good answers here, but I'd like to throw in some research I ran across while studying largemouth behavior. Largemouth bass tend to feed on prey that range from 20% to 45% of their body length, with the larger fish tending toward the higher end of the range. So this lure size would be great for actively feeding bass from 16 inches and up.

This lure is mostly for muskie or pike, but I think a bigger bass could take this lure (maybe a 16 inch plus bass).

The two biggest pickerel that I have caught on lures were caught on the Super Shad Rap. They were both 4 1/2 pounds. I catch a lot of pickerel on this lure between 2 and 4 1/2 pounds.

Ive never fished chain pickerel, but I fish muskie, and I think a muskie, pike, or chain pickerel 30 inches or bigger would go after this lure.

Don't use this lure for them. Try the smaller shallow shad rap version foe pickerel. I use the bluegill color!

Ive caught very nice pickerel on this lure ... I fish a clear lake so I use more natural color. The perch and bluegill do well

Firetiger will be your best bet, also anything bright and or shiny, more natural colors for clear water.
