at least your wife wear a size 6.Mine wears a size 5 we can only buy shoes at a specialty store where you spend at least 100.or more for one pair.She could try a childs size 6.

I WILL BE USING THESE IN SALE WATER....DON'T WANT ANYTHING THAT WILL RUST OUT. I'M TAKING BACK A PAIR OF LOWER CUT BOOTS THAT AFTER A FEW WEARINGS IN SALTWATER. THE SHOE STRING EYELETS RUSTED OUR AND CAME APART.

A: 
yes their is metal. it is at the top off the boot where there are the belt attachments to keep the boots up. There are also some snaps on the inside that secure around your calf to make the boot more secure to your leg/foot.

i used mine in salt water with no problems!

The metal is on the adjusting straps which attach to your belt and therefore do not get wet.
