I have previously purchased White River fly hooks that I cannot determine the correct usage for. I have some WR-001 hooks and some WR-004 hooks. Can someone tell me what these hooks are supposed to be designed as (nymph, dry, etc.)?Answers

WR-001 is billed as a dry fly hook because of the light wire, but it's a good all-rounder, and can be used for standard length nymphs and wets too. WR-004 is a good hook for Wooly Boogers and long shanked wet flies. The wire is a bit too heavy for hackled dry flies, but works fine for foam bodied hoppers and stoneflies.

WR-001 is a standard proportion dry fly hook (standard wire). WR-004 is a 2X long 2X strong, best suited for sinking patterns such as wooly boogers or longer bodied nymphs.1 of 1
